About Us
Black Dog Properties, LLC was founded by Hugh Hall in 2000. We own and operate a diversified real estate portfolio with properties located in Washington, California and Idaho. The portfolio includes five self-storage facilities, a golf course and a manufacturing facility.
We focus on acquiring properties that are undervalued due to poor management and in need of capital improvements. We leverage relationships with brokers and our facility management partners to find opportunities that meet our investment goals. Black Dog will review both publicly marketed sales and private offerings.
We make it a priority to understand the needs of our tenants’, customers and the individuals who operate our facilities. We strive to provide exceptional service with efficient response to service requests and direct access to all levels of our organization.

Property Highlights
Hugh Hall - Managing Partner
Hugh spent over 40 years in the automotive industry and over 30 of those years owning and operating Jeep, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Kia dealerships. During that time, he acquired numerous pieces of real estate and upon selling his final dealership in 2020, Hugh further invested in self-storage and acquired his first golf course, Lincoln Hills. Hugh has his BA from the University of Puget Sound. He spends his time with his wife, Lynne, between Mukilteo, WA and La Quinta, CA. He can be found either cruising the waters of Puget Sound or playing golf on one of the fabulous courses in La Quinta.
Chris Hall, CFA - President and Chief Investment Officer
Prior to joining Black Dog in March of 2023, Chris worked for an SEC registered investment advisor, Kosmos Management, LLC, as their sole Portfolio Manager. At Kosmos, he oversaw acquisition of new assets for Kosmos’ patented insurance-based fixed income strategy. Kosmos has $1.3 billion in AUM, of which $900M Chris led the acquisition of. Chris has his MBA from the University of Washington Foster School of Business, where he graduated with honors, and he is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charter Holder. Chris, his wife Rachel, and son Baker live in Seattle, WA. He spends as much time skiing as he can.
Kyle Hall - Vice President and Director of Operations
Kyle has spent the last five years working in the automotive industry managing teams and delivering an exceptional customer service experience. During his time as Service Manager for Kia of Everett he managed 25 individuals and developed and implemented systems that increased efficiency and productivity. Kyle has his BA from the University of Washington Bothell. Kyle and his wife Kristin recently moved to Deer Park, WA, which puts him in better proximity to Black Dog’s self-storage facilities. Kyle and Kristin have four horses, three goats, three cats, two dogs, and a flock of chickens. He is a collector of firearms and is a skilled marksman.
